What is a Psychological Evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment conducted by a licensed psychologist to understand a person’s mental health, cognitive abilities, and emotional functioning. It includes interviews, questionnaires, and tests to gather detailed information about the person’s psychological state.
The goal is to identify any mental health disorders, learning disabilities, or behavioral issues and provide a clear diagnosis for effective treatment.
As part of the psychological assessment, I will collect a personal and medical history, current symptoms, and concerns. I may also talk to family members or teachers for a complete picture of the person’s functioning.
The results help create tailored treatment plans, ensuring the individual gets the right care. Psychological evaluations are crucial for diagnosing conditions, planning treatments, and understanding a person’s strengths and weaknesses.
